Flying over Mt Denali – Alaska 2024

Hello All!! Welcome to our blog!! We just finished our 5 days trip to Alaska. We went to Alaska in the last week of June and fortunately the weather was so co-operative and we had an amazing time and a memorable trip!!!

One of the top attractions in Alaska is to do a Flight seeing tour of Mt Denali along with Glacier Landing. Although we were hesitant to do this initially, we are so glad we did it. It was an absolute unforgettable experience for us!! This is also the best way to get an up-close view of the majestic Mt. Denali.

How to do this & How much does it cost?
We strongly recommend you take this tour with Talkeetna Air Taxi and make sure to do the Glacier Landing. They have many tour options. For more information on the Glacier Landing tours, visit https://www.talkeetnaair.com/flightseeing/glacier-landings/. We did Grand Denali tour with Glacier Landing which was around 536$ per person.

If you are doing glacier landing, you will also need to buy national park pass from here https://www.pay.gov/public/form/start/40121559 which is about 15$ per person.

Hours Of Operation: Talkeetna Air Taxi is open everyday and during summer, the hours are 7AM – 6:30 PM local time.

Important:

Make sure to wear long pants, closed-toe-shoes, Sunglasses and Cameras with extra batteries.
Make sure to wear layers as it can get very cold once you step out of the plane to take pictures at the glacier landing.
Make sure to checkin 45 minutes prior to flight time.
For those opting for a glacier landing, they will provide Gore-Tex over boots that can be worn comfortably over your shoes. Although we did have our own hiking boots which were good enough.

How long does it take to drive to Talkeetna from:
Anchorage – 3.5 hours due to known construction
Fairbanks – 5 Hours
Denali National Park (vehicle entrance) – 3 Hours
Seward – 4.5 Hours
Homer – 6 hours
